I generally don’t worry about smartphone apps in this blog, but I have to make an exception this time. It’s very common for graphic designers to use either iMac or Macbook to work. It’s not the same story for smartphones.
How many of us are using android smartphones (either cause we think they’re the best choice or cause we don’t want to sell a kidney to have one)?
The common issue having an android phone is not be able to use iCloud.
Beyond iWork documents (Google is 200 yers further in this area) iCloud is the perfect tool to syncronize your contacts and calendars among your devices. To connect iCal with Google Calendar is a daunting and frustrating job. Who tried, already knows the entire problem list you will face!
Thankfully, there’s an app ($2.67 on Google Play) that can help make the transition a bit smoother: SmoothSync for Cloud Calendar.
This friendly app connects our iCal Calendar with the one inside the android smartphone.
How it works
After you downloaded the app, you simply log in to your iCloud account and select wich calendars you want to sync with your device. You’ll even get to keep the calendar colors you assigned on iCal.
SmoothSync works on two-way-sync. This means that all the events you created on your phone will be drop into your iCloud account as well.
Who have been involved in switching between iCloud and an android smartphone (and I was one of those) could have some doubts. I can assure you that this works perfectly! It will be a tiny revolution!
In the meantime you’re installing SmoothSync, be aware that a little bit of apple is slipping inside android… The infection have begun!
